Ruth Pew Kleinman, longtime Prescott resident, passed away at her home Sept. 12, 2011. She was born Nov. 7, 1917, in Mesa, Ariz., the daughter of Walter Harvey Pew and Viola Isabell Sanders Pew. After the deaths of her mother, older sister and baby sister in the flu epidemic of 1918-19, Ruth was raised by her grandparents, Alfred and Elizabeth Nelson.
She married Glen H. Kleinman Aug. 24, 1940, in Mesa, Ariz. Ruth and Glen moved to Prescott in the fall of 1945 and opened a feed store on West Gurley Street. Later, they owned the Mobil gas station, also on West Gurley, where the Bashford House now stands. Ruth worked for a number of years for the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors until her retirement in 1982. She was a lifelong member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Glen, and her son-in-law Richard Orey. She is survived by five brothers and sisters; her five sons Mick (Earlene), Ralph (Cherryl), Tim (Meg), Dennis (Pam) and Brent (Renee Famiglietta); her daughter Pat Orey; 19 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sandretto Drive. Services immediately following and interment at Mountain View Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Ruth's family requests donations to the Prescott LDS Stake Missionary Fund or Humanitarian Fund, 3405 Pamela St., Prescott, AZ 86305.
Ruth's family will be forever grateful to Hospice of the Pines and Abrio Family Services for their invaluable support and caring during her last illness.

Visitation will be Sept. 17 from 9 to 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Sandretto Drive, Prescott, with services immediately following. Interment will be at Mt. View Cemetery.
