BESETT, Roland (Bud)


Mohave Daily News, Mohave Valley, AZ - Published in Mohave Daily News Online from September 16 to September 25, 2011 - Roland "Bud" Besett, age 78, a 14-year resident of Bullhead City, Ariz., passed away Saturday, September 10, 2011, in Bullhead City, after battling throat cancer. He was a former resident of Genoa, Ill. Bud, a Quality Engineer for Chrysler Corp. for 29 years, was born January 17, 1933, in Barnes City, Iowa, to Milton and Holice Besett. He graduated from Sycamore High School in 1951. On July 17, 1952, he married Dorlene Petersen in Sycamore, Ill. He served in the National Guard, and was activated into the Army in 1952-53. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, five sisters and one brother. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Dorlene; three children, Vicky (David) Houtz of Henderson, Nev., Rick Besett of Las Vegas, Nev., and Chris Besett of Westminster, Colo.; sister, Doris Snapp of Ore.; brother and sister-in-law, Don and Helen Tyrrell of Dekalb, Ill.; brother-in-law, Ralph Dailey of Rochelle, Ill.; sister-in-law, Margie Wirsing of Elgin, Ill.; two granddaughters, Amy (Jason) Rice and Amanda (Butch) Hunsaker, both of Henderson, Nev.; three great-grandsons, Ryan Rice, Daniel Rice and Carter Hunsaker; as well as as many nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date in Bullhead City. His body was donated to science. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bud's name to the American Cancer Society , 403 N Agassiz, Suite 1, Flagstaff, AZ 86001.
