The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, September 21, 2011 Timothy J. Murphy, 55, of Prescott, Ariz., died Sept. 15, 2011, at the Prescott VA Hospice after a valiant battle against brain cancer. He was born July 12, 1956, in Los Angeles, Calif., to William J. and Estelle P. Murphy. Tim and his family moved to Prescott in 1969. After high school, Tim enlisted in the U.S. Navy and spent many memorable months at home on the open sea. Tim loved life and enjoyed living it to the fullest. When he wasn't working on his landscape business, which he loved, he could be found golfing, boating or at Disneyland with his family. He was continually giving back to his community as an active friend of Bill W. He shared a passion for reading with his father, whom he cherished, and they spent many hours sharing their wisdom and newfound knowledge. Tim is survived by his life partner, Cathy; his three children, Peter, Angeline and Tara; his new grandson, Elijah; his father, William J. Murphy; brothers Patrick and Matt; and sisters Marie Sweetland and Kathy Freeman. For those who knew and loved Tim, he leaves a bond that transcends his passing. A memorial service for Tim will be held 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Prescott VA chapel, 500 N. Highway 89.
