GUGERT, Henry Theodore (Hank)


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, September 21, 2011 - Henry Theodore Gugert passed away Sept. 3, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 65. He was born to Francis and Elizabeth (Faust) Gugert on Dec. 16, 1945 in New Orleans, La. Hank attended high school at Cooper High in Vicksburg, Miss. and then went on to attend college at Cypress in Cypress, Calif. Following college he went on to serve four years under the direction of the United States Navy during Vietnam with three tours of duty in Southeast Asia. After he was honorably discharged in January 1968, he married his wife Mary that same month and made California his home for the next 43 years. He lived in Orange County, Calif. where he attended Cypress College. He worked for Flour-Daniel as a telecommunications project manager in Irvine, Calif. for 30 years. Hank was a football and baseball booster and had umpired little league. He was a member of the Catholic Church and the VFW. Hank loved boating, snow skiing and partying with friends and family. His infectious smile and personality will be dearly missed by his family and friends. Hank leaves behind his beloved wife of 43 years, Mary Catherine Gugert of Lake Havasu; son Ted (Lisa) Gugert of Orange, Calif.; daughter Brandy (Ken) Hokuf of Corona, Calif.; brothers Gerald (Linda) Gugert of Mahopac, N.Y. and Michael (Kim) Gugert of Lake Forest, Calif. and four grandsons Brock and Brody Gugert and Jackson and Logan Hokuf. He was preceded in death by his parents, retired Commander Frank and Mary Gugert and three brothers Frank, George and Tom Gugert. Graveside services will be held on Friday, 11 a.m. at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, Calif. Military honors will be presented by the United States Navy.
