Crystal Rose Funeral Home, Tolleson, Arizona Rachel Trujillo Hess entered into life February 14, 1935 in Ajo, Arizona and entered into rest August 24, 2009 in Mesa, Arizona. She leaves behind to cherish her memory: children; Gary (Joyce) Hess, Dori (Ted) Brandon, Charmaine (Louie Lopez) Hess, grandchildren; Brian Brandon, Ryan Brandon & Jason Hess, great granddaughter; Taylor Brandon, significant other; John Trammell, brother; Arthur (Rosa) Rendon, and sister; Virgie (Jerry) Leatherwood, her baby beagle Toby. Predeceased in death by; brother; Manuel Rendon and sister; Norma McKay. Daughter of the late Manuel & Elena Rendon. Attended Ajo school. She moved to California for a short time with her family but moved back to Ajo where she continued to live for the duration of her life. After her schooling, she had worked at their family restaurant, "Rendon's Cafe" as both cook and waitress for several years. Their family restaurant was very popular in the late 50's to mid 60's, people always remembering the great food that was served there. During this time she had her first two children Gary and Dori, afterwhich she met and married Jack Hess, had Charmaine and became a homemaker up until his death in 1996. She continued to live in Ajo after his death. She then became reaquainted with longtime friends and making new friends when she joined American Citizens Social Club and VFW. She enjoyed socializing and was very much a "people" person and around this time is when she met John, her significant other. She loved music, dances, helping out with the community with such things as food sales, raffles and benefits. One of her favorite pastimes was playing bingo and also cooking for people, traveling & crochetting. She had a heart of gold and would go out of her way to help any in need. She was a lady to be admired for her courage, strength and faith in God as she battled many health challenges, and even during this most difficult time she would still think of others on their birthdays and continue to give them a call and sing her traditional birthday song. She will be missed by many for her kind nature and great ways, and will always be remembered as a lover of life. Rosary 10:00 am, Saturday, August 29, 2009 with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 at Immaculate Conception Church, 141 W. Morondo Ave., Ajo, AZ with interment to follow at Ajo Memorial Cemetery
