BAKER, Charles Edward


Crystal Rose Funeral Home, Tolleson, Arizona Charles Edward Baker On September 10, 2009, Charlie passed away in Phoenix, Arizona after a brief illness at the age of 64. Charlie was born in Quanah, Texas, but grew up in San Bernardino, California and later moved to Redlands, California. It was in Redlands, Charlie served as a member of the Redlands Police Department for several years before changing jobs and beginning a new career with San Bernardino County. It was while working with San Bernardino County, Charlie moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, working in Needles, California until his retirement in 2006. After his retirement he moved briefly to Silver City, New Mexico and most recently to Tolleson, Arizona where he continued to enjoy life in his retirement. Charlie was a 1963 graduate from Pacific High School in San Bernardino, California and also attended San Bernardino Valley College. Throughout his career he received numerous commendations and awards for his service to others. Charlie is survived by his wife Yvonne Baker of Tolleson, Arizona, his brother William (Bill) Baker of Irvine, California, his sister Frances Tomperi of Litchfield Park, Arizona, his son Bret Baker of Yucaipa, California, his step-sons Glen Mendoza of Upland, California, David Mendoza of Tolleson, Arizona and Patrick Perez currently serving our country with the United States Marines. He was also survived by his grandchildren Morgan Baker, Chad Baker, Jesse Baker, Jacob Baker and Mitchell Baker numerous nieces and nephews. Charlie was preceeded into Heaven by a son Bart Baker (1965-2006). Services for Charlie will be held at Crystal Rose Funeral Home 9155 W. Van Buren, Tolleson, Arizona on September 19, 2009 at 3:00 pm. A celebration of his life will follow the services. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to Wounded Warriors.org On a personal note Charlie was much loved by family and friends. Although we will miss his presence in our lives we will continue to hold his love in our hearts until we reunite with him in Heaven.
