EAGAR, William Oman

The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 09/27/2011 William Oman Eagar, 76, was born March 26, 1935, in Eagar. He was baptized in the Little Colorado by his uncle Owen Bigelow, Aug. 8, 1943. He had an older sister, Barbara Jean, three younger brothers, Keith, Jackie, and Martin Dane, and a younger sister Joan. They would take the cows up in the mountains in the summer and make cheese and butter. Bill lived in Maverick for a short while and that gave a new meaning to the word “cold.” Bill served his country in the United States Air Force from 1955 until 1958. After his enlistment, he tried the police department and decided it wasn’t for him, so he followed his father into road construction. Bill lived all over the state of Arizona doing construction work, usually running the lube truck. He took a temporary job in Sierra Vista, where he met his adored wife, Mary-Jane. She worked at a barbecue restaurant, where he would come for dinner every night and just hang around. One day the carbonation tank was empty and Bill went behind the counter to attach it. Mary-Jane leaned over to check it out and he grabbed her from behind, around the waist. As she stood up, she hit his chin with her head. They both felt that. Bill left for two weeks and upon his return (she later told him) her heart did this funny little flip and she knew she would spend the rest of her life with him. It didn’t quite work out that way. Bill’s death was sudden and unexpected. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Mary-Jane of Queen Creek; sons: Keith Ronald Eagar of Gilbert and Mark Anthony Eagar; a daughter Terri Lynn (Spencer) Clark of S.C.; sisters: Barbara Jean (Chadburn) Beauchamp of Marana and Joan Brenton of Tucson; a brother Keith Eagar of Oracle. He was preceded in death by his father, Clem Oman Eagar; mother, Pearl Mae Kinsey Eagar, and two brothers: Jackie Eagar and Martin Dane Eagar. He was a wonderful, loving husband and father and will be missed. “Until we meet again.” Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 19, at the Pegasus Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Queen Creek. Interment was held Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the Eagar Cemetery. Burnham Mortuary of Eagar handled arrangements. To leave an online condolence, visit www.burnhammortuary.com
