The Camp Verde Bugle, Camp Verde, Arizona Thursday, October 23, 2008 Gladys Mae Schell died Oct. 21, 2008, at Ana's Best Care Home in Surprise, Ariz. at the age of 99. She was born March 13, 1909, in Utica, N.Y., the daughter of Clayton and May (Halliday) Durity. Besides residing in Utica, she also lived in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada; Hemet, Calif.; Payson, Ariz.; and Cottonwood. In 2007 Gladys moved to Surprise, where she made her final home. She retired as an executive secretary from the state of California Civil Service. Gladys was the mother of Kenneth Clayton Ellison (Helen) of Surprise; the grandmother of three, great-grandmother of nine, and the great-great-grandmother of three.
