CAMPBELL, Robert Elmer


Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Tuesday, September 27, 2011 - Robert Elmer Campbell passed away Sept. 24, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 90. He was born to Chesley and Ruth (Westerland) Campbell Sept. 22, 1921, in La Grande, Ore. Robert married his beloved bride, Anne May Plitnick, Oct. 5, 1941. On April 11, 1944, Robert enlisted with the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged on Feb. 10, 1946. He worked for FEMA LA Flood Control as an engineer for 10 years. Robert belonged to the bottle club, collecting bottles from all over. He especially enjoyed trips to Mexico to collect bottles. He belonged to the Elks and the Eagles. Robert loved spending his free time going fishing, hiking, bicycling or waterskiing. Robert leaves behind his loving wife of 70 years, Anne Campbell, of Lake Havasu; sons, Gerald L. Campbell and his wife, Sandy, of Post Falls, Idaho, and Robert C. Campbell of Menifee, Calif.; daughters, Patricia A. McDaniel and her husband, George, of Golden Valley, and Barbara J. Hall and her husband, Sam, of Cromberg, Calif.; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and two siblings, Howard Campbell and Arlene Ayers. A Lodge of Sorrow will be Sunday, at 1 p.m. at the Elks Lodge No. 2399. The VFW Post 9401 and American Legion 81 will present full military honors. Donations are requested to go in Robert’s memory to the Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Drive, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86494.
