Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Thursday, September 29, 2011 10:15 PM MST Leon Edward Jankowski passed away Sept. 27, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 72. He was born to Leon “Leo” and Irene (Nowakowski) Jankowski on Aug. 11, 1939 in Detroit, Mich. Leon served proudly under the United States Air Force. On May 8, 1965 he married his beloved bride Janet Louise Hoffman and two years ago together they made Lake Havasu their home from California. Leon managed, coached and umpired little league baseball for over 35 years. He was a member of the Optimist Club International. He was an avid sports fan; he especially enjoyed drag racing. Leon leaves behind his loving wife of 46 years, Janet Jankowski of Lake Havasu City; sons Peter and his wife Michelle of Alta Loma, Calif., Lee and his wife Jennifer of Lake Havasu and John and his wife Marie Anne of Alexandria, Va. and three grandchildren, Luke, Skyler and Kelsie.
