ROBERT LEE CONDER ARIZONA PIONEER LAID TO REST
Funeral services for Robert Lee Conder, 80, Northern Arizona pioneer and father of Mrs. Andy Tissaw of Williams, were held Sunday, Nov. 22 from the Mormon Church in Cottonwood. Mr. Conder passed away in his sleep at his home in Camp Verde Nov. 17.
Born in Perry County, Linden, Tenn., Oct. 7, 1873 Mr. Conder came to the Verde Valley in Arizona in 1913 and raised his family there. He was preceded in death by his wife, who died Nov. 21, 1948.
Survivors included seven children, 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. In addition to Mrs. Tissaw the surviving children are Mrs. Orval Lee, Cottonwood, Mrs. Lendora Major of Redding, Calif., Mrs. Floyd Fuller, Globe, Mrs. Leonard Smith, Phoenix and Mrs. Bill Meador of Glendale, Arizona., and George Robert Conder, of Grand Canyon. CONDER SERVICES CONDUCTED SUNDAY
Verd Hanks was principal speaker at funeral services held at the Latter Day Saints Chapel Sunday for Robert Edmond Lee Conder, 80, who died Friday at his home in Camp Verde. The LDS choir sang.
Mr. Conder was a rancher. He arrived in Camp Verde from Aztec, New Mexico in 1913 and lived there until his death. Born in Linden, Tenn., he married in Aztec in 1895. His wife, Ada, died five years ago.
Survivors include a son, George Robert, of Grand Canyon; six daughters: Mrs. Orval Lee, Cottonwood; Mrs. Lendora Major, Central Valley, Calif., Mrs. Floyd Fuller, Globe; Mrs. J. A. Tissaw, Williams; Mrs. Leonard Smith and Mrs. Bill Meador, both of Phoenix.
Also 26 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, three sisters and one brother.
Burial was at Cottonwood Cemetery beside his wife's grave. Cottonwood Funeral Home handled arrangements.
