WETTER, John S.

Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona May 30, 1968, page 1 Morristown Overpass Is Death Scene Following close on the tragic death of a truck driver west of Wickenburg early Friday morning was the violent death early Saturday of a Phoenix man who failed to negotiate a curve on the Morristown overpass and died when thrown from his late model Buick Riviera. The Highway Patrol reported to its headquarters that the westbound car driven by John S. Wetter, 26, a court reporter, left the road and traveled airborne 85 feet, rolled over twice and was completely demolished as shown in the photograph above, taken by the SUN at Blakely’s where it was hauled after the accident. The speedometer on the car had stopped at 10,000.9 miles. One law enforcement officer suggested that perhaps Wetter was watching the instrument as it turned the 10,000-mile mark and failed to see the curve in the road. Wetter’s death was No. 5 in the patrol area for the year.
