STREPHANS, Charles, Sr.


Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, Arizona October 3, 1968 Charles Strephans Charles Strephans, Sr., a resident of Wickenburg for more than a quarter of a century, engaging in the restaurant business throughout those years, died in the John C. Lincoln Hospital in Sunnyslope Sept 24 following a long illness. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. September 28 at the Wickenburg Funeral Home and burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery. Mr. Strephans was a native of Greece, born July 21, 1885 in that country. He came to the United States and Arizona in 1933 and eight years later to Wickenburg where he owned and operated the Texas Café. Later he moved to Salome where he also operated a restaurant. Returning to Wickenburg he built and operated Charles Steak House on the Phoenix Highway until illness compelled him to give up the active management of that business. He is survived by his wife Flavia; two sons, Charles, Jr., and Robert, both now living in Phoenix, and a daughter, Mrs. Eunice Riley of San Antonio, Tex. Two grandchildren also survive.
