The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ October 7, 1949 MANY MOURN DEATH OF MRS. O. SHRIDE The death of Mrs. Dorothy Shride in a Chula Vista, Calif., hospital after midnight last Friday, although not unexpected because of a stroke suffered a few weeks ago, nevertheless brought sorrow to her many friends in Wickenburg. Ill a month, Mrs. Shride was thought to be on the road to recovery and was released from the hospital. A few days later, On October 21, she suffered the stroke which resulted in her death. ALTHOUGH Mrs. Shride and her husband Orval Shride, had not resided in Wickenburg for the past three years, they were frequent visitors here with Mr. Shride’s son, Carl, and family. The father and son are associated in the operation of Wickenburg Ice Company. WHILE a resident here, Mrs. Shride was active in the affairs of the Ladies Aid Society and served one year as president. A native of Pennsylvania, she was an only child and came to Wickenburg a nu8mber of years ago upon her marriage to Mr. Shride. They left here to make their home in National City. THE HUSBAND is the only immediate survivor. Rev. Charles A. Surber conducted the funeral services at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at the Wickenburg Chapel and burial followed in the Wickenburg Cemetery with Hassayampa Chapter of the Eastern Star conducting that order’s graveside services.
