Benny Moncayo, 79, of Avondale died April 12, 2010, at his home.
Mr. Moncayo was born in New Mexico. He served in the Army during the Korean War. In October 1954, he moved to Arizona, where he met and married Esther. He was a carpenter and also a superintendent for home builders. He was a member of Arizona Carpenters Local Union 1506 and American Legion Post 61, where he served as commander in 1969. He coached Little League baseball in Avondale for 10 years.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Esther; three daughters, Rosemary Deever, Barbara Garcia and Kathleen; one son, Roger; 12 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
A Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. today at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 539 E. La Posada Blvd. in Goodyear. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Avondale.
