The Verde Independent, Cottonwood, AZ Thursday, October 13, 2011 John J. Getz Jr., 66, Cottonwood, AZ, died: Thursday, October 6, 2011. John Getz was born in Ephrata, Penna. on September 14, 1945. He was born to the late John J. and Anna S. Getz. John and Dorothy Getz were married on October 2, 1965. They had 3 children: Lydia Dee Norton, Nathan John Getz and Tabitha Lyn Getz, who is deceased. He has 4 brothers: Jerry J Getz of Prescott, Clair McEllhenney Jr. of Penna., Jimmy McEllhenney of Tenn, and Harvey McEllhenney of Penna.. John was blessed with 2 beautiful grand-children: Alyasia Maria Rice, deceased, and Erin Elizabeth Rice of Az. On June 20, 1961, John was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. John was an active minister and helped to establish a congregation in Tenn and Ky. At the time of his death, he was serving with the Verde Valley Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Cottonwood, Az. His faith and convictions were firm in God’s promise of an earthly resurrection. We look forward to the time when we will be together again. John’s main focus in life was ministering for Jehovah God. He maintained a small janitorial service to supply the needs for his family. John always wore a smile and reflected his love for life. You will be greatly missed. Information provided by survivors.
