Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Monday, October 3, 2011 Alan “Paul” Allen Sept. 2, 1938 — Sept. 20, 2011 Alan “Paul” Allen, 73, of Lake Havasu City, departed from this earth Sept. 20, after a 15-month battle with lung cancer. Paul lived a diverse life. He was a veteran of the Navy. He had a successful career in real estate. When he retired at the age of 47 in 1985, he moved to the desert and explored a more artistic and carefree lifestyle. He started to paint, mold clay, and cobble together old treasures into new works of art. Most recently, Paul moved to Lake Havasu City with his partner, Maureen, where they spent a dozen years doing the things they loved — traveling to new places, visiting with family and friends, four wheeling, fishing, watching tennis, working out and enjoying the slow pace of desert life. Paul leaves behind his partner, Maureen Neher; his sister, Faith Rachofsky and her husband, David, of Snowmass, Colo.; his daughter, Alise L. Ferency her husband, Jim; and his only grandchild, Emma Allen Ferency, of New York City; and his son, A. Lance Allen and his wife, Stephanie, of Palm Harbor, Fla.
