Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Wednesday, October 5, 2011 - Mary Elizabeth Church Sweeney Nov. 2, 1922 — Oct. 4, 2011 Mary Elizabeth Church Sweeney, 88, of Mt. Pleasant, Pa., formerly of Lake Havasu City, went to be with the Lord Tuesday. She was born Nov. 2, 1922, in North Syracuse, N.Y., a daughter of the late Charles and Kathryn Kane Church. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased in death by her first husband, John Sweeney; her second husband, Robert Campbell; two sisters and two brothers. Mary is survived by her daughter, Maureen Ferree, of Mt. Pleasant; her son, Robert Sweeney, of Parker; her grandchildren, Christina, Scott, Danielle and Timothy; and her great-grandchildren, Adessa and Alexis. She was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church while she lived in Lake Havasu City. She graduated from Massachusetts General Hospital School of Nursing and began her career as a Navy nurse. She went on to work as a school nurse for Warners Elementary School near Syracuse, N.Y. She moved to Lake Havasu City in 1973. Golfing was her passion and she was a familiar face on the greens of Lake Havasu. She worked at the Nautical Golf Course for many years. There will be no public viewing or services.
