Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - William (Bill) Burke was born April 24, 1933 in Kenova, W.Va. and died Oct. 8, 2011 in Lake Havasu City. Preceded on the path to the Lord by his parents William and Nora Burke, and his son David. He was with family at the time of his passing, was loved by all and will be dearly missed. Bill grew up in Southern California where he met and married his beloved bride and high school sweetheart Joyce Burke in 1953. They shared 58 years of marriage. Bill proudly served our country with the US Army at Ft. Bliss, Texas during the end of the Korean Conflict. He moved his family from California to Colorado in 1971 where he worked as a mechanical engineer and manager for Dixon Inc. for 20 years and 20 days. Bill loved the outdoors, taking his family on weekend outings, four-wheeling, fishing, hunting and boating throughout Utah and Colorado. After retirement in 1992 he and Joyce loved RVing around the country including trips throughout the mid-west, mountain west, Pacific coast, Canada and Alaska. After being snowbirds for several years, traveling to Arizona each winter from Grand Junction, Colo., he and Joyce moved to Lake Havasu City in 2000 where they became active in church and community as members of St. Michaels Methodist Church and the Golden “K” Kiwanis Club. Survivors include his wife Joyce; sons Steven (Gwyn) of Grand Junction, Colo. and Bill (Vicki) of Palmer, Alaska; grandchildren Paul, Brandon, Jennifer, Kimberly, Savanna and Melissa; and great grandchildren Cadence, Taylor and Jordan. Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at St. Michaels Methodist Church, Wednesday, October 12 at 12:00 noon.
