FEENEY,
George M. (Rev.)
Wickenburg (AZ) Sun
Friday, June 30, 1961
Rev George M Feeney of Phoenix, who was pastor of St Anthony's Catholic Church here in 1942 and part of 1943, was killed Tuesday in a golf cart accident at the Olympic Gold Club near San Francisco. He was 49.
He had visited Wickenburg frequently since his pastorate here and was a guest on the Desert Caballeros rides of 1947 and 1948.
Rev Feeney, a native of San Francisco, was riding in a golf cart with Major Edwin Casey, post chaplain at the Army's Presidio in that city. At the 16th tee, they swerved the cart to avoid a water sprinkler. The cart went off a steep incline; Rev Feeney fell out; and the cart struck him at the base of his head.
After leaving Wickenburg, Rev Feeney served as pastor of an Ajo church. At the time of his death, he was pastor of St Theresa's Catholic Church in Phoenix.
