Mitchell Steven Bienusa was born in Fairbanks, Alaska, on April 22, 1990. He is the son of CW4(R) Dale Bienusa and Mary (Shannon) Bienusa. He was active in JROTC and Boy Scouts throughout his teen years, earning his Eagle Scout on Oct. 29, 2005. He graduated from Waynesville High School in Waynesville, Mo., in May 2008 and moved to Prescott, Ariz., to major in computer engineering at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
He was a senior ROTC cadet at Embry-Riddle and enjoyed hunting, shooting, paintball, video games, riding motorcycle, and caring for others.
He passed from this earth on Oct. 13, 2011, at the Flagstaff Medical Center in Arizona. He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Ronald Hesse of Floris, Iowa, and Neil Shannon of Clay Center, Kan. He is survived by his father and mother, Dale and Mary Bienusa, from Dixon, Mo., his sister, Kassi Bienusa, from Manhattan, Kan., and his grandmothers, Irene McCoy of Memphis, Mo., and Onette Shannon of Clay Center, Kan.; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A memorial service will be held at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Ariz., on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011, at 4:30 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at the Soldier's Memorial Chapel on Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2011, at 3 p.m. for family and friends. There will be a private family burial at a later date.
