William M. Fain, after an illness of several weeks and a few days of severe suffering died at his home at Cornville, Yavapai Co, Arizona, January 7, l9l2. Many friends gathered at the grave at Middle Verde to pay their last tribute of respect.
Here the writer, a friend and neighbor conducted a short service, after which the body was laid to rest in the Middle Verde Cemetery. William Fain was born in Cumberland Co, Kentucky, March 6, l832. But while yet a child, he moved to Missouri and at the age of 22, to California and then to Nevada, where he was married to Miss Carrie (Cary) Burch. To this union was born nine children, four of whom preceded the father into the (unreadable).
Mr. Fain came with his family to the Verde Valley in l873, settling near Camp Verde, after having been driven about by restless indians, he finally settled near Cornville, where he has since lived and where he did much in the development and enterprises of that vicinity and the Verde Valley.
Mrs. Fain; a daughter, Mrs. William Dickison, and four sons survive the husband and father, besides several other relatives and friends living near the bereaved home. To all we extend sincere sympathy.
