David ‘Stoney’ Burke, 74
David F. Burke, Jr. 74 of Globe, passed away on Oct. 15, 2011 with his family around him. He was born in Angola, N.Y. on June 26, 1937.
After graduation, he joined the Air Force and spent 25 years in active service. He served two tours of duty in Vietnam.
After retirement, he worked at Allied Signal for 10 years. In 1992, David and his wife Denise moved to Globe where they opened an antique store on Broad Street. David and Denise also owned and published the Copper Country News for seven years. His hobbies included coin collecting and golf. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, and past Exalted Ruler of the Elks Lodge in Globe.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Denise; his daughter, Patricia Burke; son, Steve (Cindy) Burke and five grandchildren, Rebecca (Chris) Nielsen, Brandon (Sara) Burke, Jason (Fiancee Stephanie) Burke, Allison Burke, Dillon Burke, and one great-grandchild, CJ Nielsen; two sisters, Peg McAuley and Linda Davis; two brothers, Doug (Mary Anne) Burke, Jim (Patty) Burke; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, David and Peg Burke, and brother Michael (Sharon) Burke.

Services are private and the family was assisted by Miles Mortuary. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials in David’s name to the Elk’s Charities and the American Cancer Society.
