ESCOBEDO, Alfred Sandoval (Scobie)


Arizona Silver Belt, Globe, AZ Wednesday, October 19, 2011 Alfred Sandoval “Scobie” Escobedo, age 83, of Globe passed away on Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011. He was born in Miami, Ariz. on March 30, 1928, the son of Luisa (Sandoval) and Abraham Escobedo. Alfred worked for 35 years at Inspiration Consolidated Copper Company and retired in 1985. He served in the National Guard for 20 years as a Staff Sergeant. “Scobie” was a very happy, giving person and was known for helping anyone he met; he was also a foster parent for 30 years. He loved barbecuing and spending time with his family. “Scobie” was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend and will be greatly missed and warmly remember by all who knew him. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Salvador Escobedo, Robert Escobedo and Ernest Escobedo; one sister, Elisa Montenegro; and one grandson, Matthew Barragan. “Scobie” leaves behind in loving memory his wife of 56 years, Hortensia “Billie” Escobedo of Globe, Ariz.; seven children, Carmen L. Casillas of Globe, Ariz., Mark A. (Annie) Escobedo of Globe, Ariz., Laura (Rudy) Reyes of Gilbert, Ariz., Louise Sandoval of Gold Canyon, Ariz., Sandra S. (Michael) Barragen of Superior, Ariz., Adrianne (Patrick) Burchell of Mesa, Ariz. and Ronald (Kylene) Escobedo of Globe, Ariz.; two brothers, Albert Escobedo of Sacramento, Calif. and Louis Escobedo of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Beatrice “Betty” Netherton of Tucson, Ariz.; 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild; extended family Cynthia Beall, Merlinda (Dominguez) Ellington, and Laura Haverstock. Visitation will be Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 201 S. Broad St. in Globe. Rosary will follow at 7 p.m. Mass will be Friday, Oct. 21, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church. Funeral arrangements for Alfred S. Escobedo were handled by Miles Funeral Services Globe.
