Corina Martinez Romero, 80, resident of St. Johns died Oct. 17, 2011, in Phoenix. She was born Aug. 21, 1931, in St. Johns, the daughter of Alvino and Josie Hidalgo Martinez.
Corina was a homemaker for 24 years and worked for many years as the assistant manager at the senior center. She was a lifelong member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and a member of The Legion of Mary and The Red Hat Society.
She is survived by her sons: Jake (Gabie), Joe (Ramona), James (Renee), Julian (Angela), Leroy, Christopher (Sheryl), Lawrence (Danilee), Frank (Mary), and Paul (Sharlene); daughters: Sandra (Louie), Josie (Kirby), Corina, Nancy (Ken), and Anna Maria (Patrick); a sister Lucille (Mundo) Tafoya; 52 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren.
Corina was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Henry B. Romero; her second husband Alvin Dodge; sons: Michael and Baby Joseph; sister Rose Chavez, and grandson, Vincent Romero
A visitation will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Oct. 21, in St. Johns at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with rosary at 7 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 22, also at the church. Interment will follow the service at the St. Johns Catholic Cemetery.
