Sandra J. Tarro, 62, lost her second battle with cancer Dec. 8, 2008, despite the fact she and her doctors waged a courageous fight beginning in January of this year.
Her first encounter with this deadly disease occurred almost 20 years ago at which time she was able to overcome it.
Sandy was born July 22, 1946 in San Francisco to Vivian and Eugene Bosch. She moved to Prescott in 2000 with her husband, John, to begin enjoying retirement. Sandy was well known to local animal welfare organizations having been an active volunteer for the Yavapai Humane Society and most recently serving as secretary and board member for Miss Kitty's Cat House. Prior to moving to Prescott from Washington State, Sandy also undertook a variety of volunteer positions with the Seattle King County Humane Society.
In addition to her husband, Sandy is survived by her son Michael Tarro and her granddaughter Ashlee, both of Auburn, Wash. Her mother and stepfather, Vivian and Andy Pappas of Pacifica, Calif., also survive her.
A memorial service to celebrate Sandy's life of caring compassion will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest donations be made in Sandy's memory to Miss Kitty's Cat House or the Yavapai Humane Society.
