Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Saturday, October 15, 2011 - Muriel Callahan passed away Oct. 13, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 87. She was born to Harry and Sarah (Green) Brook on Aug. 13, 1924 in England. Muriel married the love of her life, Patrick Callahan 50 years ago and together they made Lake Havasu their home 33 years ago from Detroit, Mich. Patrick’s nickname for Muriel was “Mrs. Busyfingers” and rightfully so. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crossword puzzles and all sorts of crafts. She taught quilting at the college and enjoyed teaching reverse glass painting at the Senior Center. Muriel volunteered at St. Vincent DePaul’s for 20 years, and was a member of the Art Guild and the Stamp and Coin Club. She was also a member of the Rosary Guild. They would make Rosaries that were sent to Mexico. Muriel will be so very missed by her family and her many friends. Muriel leaves behind her best friend and husband, Patrick Callahan and many nieces and nephews. A visitation will be held on Monday, Oct. 17, 2011 from 5 to 7 p.m. with a Rosary to be said at 6 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2011 at 11 a.m. with Father Chauncey Winkler offering words of comfort and inspiration. Donations are requested to go in Muriel’s memory to St. Vincent DePaul, 1850 Commander Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
