On Monday Oct. 10, 2011, our dear mother and grandmother Georgette Rita Squier passed away at the age of 93. She was born Sept. 17, 1918 in San Jose, Calif. to Guiseppe and Anna Turturici Lo Bono.
There were six children, Josephine (deceased), Rosalie, Georgette, Tony, Marie (deceased) and George. She was 28 when she and her sister Rosalie moved to Costa Mesa in Southern California with their children Linda, Deanna and Dale and brother George. They opened the Trio Café and became known for having some of the best food in town. She met her future husband Richard there, a widower with a young son Ronnie. They married in June of 1950, and began their marriage with a 13-foot camping trailer. From then on they lived a life full of travel and adventure, camping and fishing (she always caught the most fish) their way across the U.S. Canada and Alaska. Mom had the trailer packed and ready to go every Friday. They especially loved the warmth of the Arizona sunshine and moved to Lake Havasu City in 2001.
She was a loving and kind person to all, but especially toward her grandchildren, Christine Cook, Donald Fellbaum (deceased) Daniel Fellbaum, Michael Dougherty and Judy May Russell (Michael). She is survived by her daughter Linda Hord and husband Dennis; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; sister Rosalie; brothers Tony (Lou Ann) and George (Donna). Richard passed away in 2008. She missed him daily and looked forward to the time she would be with him again.
She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and had great faith in the Resurrection. Her ashes will be taken to Northern California so she can be with Richard once again. A memorial service is planned for the spring, her favorite time of year.
