Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Thursday, October 27, 2011 - Sophie Victoria Kozuch passed away on Oct. 26, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 89. She was born in Chicago, Ill. to Paul and Kunagunda (Mrocka) Smolinski on March 10, 1922. Sophie enjoyed cooking and baking, making one heck of a pound cake. Family meant the world to her and she has a ton of photos. She never missed a year sending out holiday cards. Sophie is survived by her loving family; son John Joseph (Jacki) Kozuch of Bourbonnais, Ill.; daughter Patricia Ann (James) Conley of Lake Havasu City; grandchildren Tina, Jim Jr., Christina, Nicole, Tiffany and Brandi; great grandchildren Ashley G., Nicholas, Johnathon, McKenzie, Ashley K., Delaney, Liam, Ava and Jason. She is preceded in death by her husband Walter; parents Paul and Kunagunda Smolinski; sisters Helen and Stella and grandson John Joseph Kozuch Jr. Visititation will be held on Friday October 28, 2011 at Lietz-Fraze Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary being said at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass will be on Saturday October 29, 2011 at noon at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church with Father Chauncey officiating. Reception will follow at the parish hall. Donation can be made in Sophie’s name to Hospice of Havasu, P O Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86405.
