The Daily Miner, Kingman, AZ - Published on October 26, 2011 - Lonna Betty Foster of Kingman passed away in Phoenix on Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011, a day after her 84th birthday of a sudden illness. Lonna was born in Danbury, Neb., to Glen and Elizabeth Jones. She lived in Kingman for over 40 years. Lonna grew up in Nebraska on a farm, riding horses and playing piano. She graduated Stockton Rural High School in 1945. She received her certificate to teach third grade in Nebraska in that same year. In April 1949, Lonna married Leo Calvin Foster of Oklahoma. During their marriage they lived in numerous places in the western United States, Guatemala and the island of Trinidad. After settling in Kingman in 1970, Lonna and Leo were fixtures at the Kingman Cerbat Cliffs Golf Course where Lonna worked at the pro-shop. In her retirement, she enjoyed spending time with her family, quilting and crocheting. She was an avid Diamondback's fan and rooted for the Suns. Lonna now joins her husband Leo who passed away in 1985. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Clinton and Barbara Jones of Fresno, Calif.; her three children and their spouses, Michael and Paula Foster of Wake Village, Texas, Clifford and Shirley Foster of Kingman, and Glenda and Greg Guest of Ferron, Utah. She was the proud grandmother of eight plus their spouses, and one who predeceased her. She was known as "Grandma Great" to 12 great-grandchildren with one more due in January. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. today at the Cedar Hills Community Church on Blake Ranch Road east of Kingman. Remembrances can be made in Lonna's name to the USO or the Arthritis National Research Foundation.
