Mary E. Fleming, 79, of Prescott Valley, Arizona, passed away on January 13, 2002 at her home in Prescott Valley, Arizona. Mary was born December 6, 1922 in Phoenix, Arizona, daughter of Claude and Hester (Roberts) Smith.
Mary was a school teacher for the Roosevelt school district in Phoenix and received her Doctorate in Education in 1991 after her retirement.
Mary and her husband Marion L. Fleming were married over 50 years before his death in 1997. Mary was active in Prescott Valley area including Channel 13 Public Television, the Chamber of Commerce and the Casa Bells Dancing Group.
Mary was a successful lecturer, poet, author, and recently a contributing columnist to the Prescott Valley Tribune. She was also a former award winning Lt. Governor for Toastmasters International in Phoenix, she later founded the Antelope Toastmasters in Prescott Valley.
Mary will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include her daughter, Claudia M. and her husband H. Larry Green of Happy Jack, Ariz., son, George L. and his wife Donna Lee Fleming of Glendale, Ariz., brother, Edward (Marion) Smith, 3 grandchildren; Ronald and Karly Green of Phoenix, Jeffrey Green of Phoenix and Robyn Fleming of California numerous nieces and nephews.
Private family services will be held.
