Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Saturday, October 29, 2011 - Jilma (Armijo) Marriott, age 81, died at home surrounded by her family on Oct. 21. Jilma died with the grace and dignity she displayed throughout her life. She was born in Zacapa, Guatemala, and reared in Managua, Nicaragua. She is preceded in death by parents, Modesto and Carmenza Armijo; husband of 49 years, Ken; son, Howard; sister, Leonor; and brother, Jorge. Jilma was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She is survived by daughters, Carmen Marriott (Robert Clark) and Lindy (Joe) Eppinger; grandchildren, Dylan, Alana and Aaron Clark, Drew Eppinger; sister, Mireya Wharton; brothers, Modesto (Maruxa) Armijo, Roberto (Pat) Armijo and fiancé Robert Treat. Jilma moved to Lake Havasu with her family in 1968, coming from Los Angeles, Calif. Ken and Jilma established The Havasu Milk Delivery Co., and later founded Amigo Realty, in 1973. She was 1986 President of the Lake Havasu Board of Realtors and a member of P.E.O. International. After retiring, Jilma returned to college at Mohave Community College and became a published writer, accomplished painter and musician. Jilma had a true zest for life and love of learning, and was an inspiration to all who knew her. Jilma will be greatly missed by friends and family and will live on in their hearts and memories, never to be forgotten. Lake Havasu Avenue, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403. A memorial service celebrating Jilma’s life will be Dec. 17, at 3 p.m., at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
