MCELMOYL, Brownie Jean

The Arizona Republic, Phoenix, Arizona Tuesday, July 24, 2001 Brownie Jean McElmoyl, of Prescott, Arizona, was born September 4, 1934, in Shreveport, Louisiana to Steven A. Alford and Joyce Powell Alford. She attended Lake Charles High School end later received a B.S. degree from Texas Women's University in Denton, Texas. After college she moved to Phoenix, Arizona and taught physical education at Carl Hayden High School. She was also a tennis professional at John Gardiner's Tennis Ranch in Scottsdale in the 1970's. She moved to Prescott in the early 1990's and worked for the Yavapai Gaming Agency as Human Resources Coordinator. She enjoyed her almost 9 years with the YGA tremendously and valued all her friends there and at the Yavapai-Prescott Indian Tribe. Brownie's family wants to acknowledge the support and kindness of her friends and co-workers. Brownie passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on Monday, July 9, 2001. She is survived by her son, Scott Borden McElmoyl of Atlanta, Georgia, and her daughter, Courtney McElmoyl of Duncan, Oklahoma and her granddaughter Reese Alford MoElmoyl. In addition to her son, daughter and granddaughter, Brownie will be greatly missed by her sisters Jane Sims of Lynchburg, Virginia and Joyce Vorman of Stockbridge, Massachusetts, Brownie is also survived by Mary Williams of Tucson, Arizona and Frank B. McElmoyl of Prescott. Her family and friends will always remember her enduring personality, compassion and unique sense of humor. She was truly a special person. At Brownie's request, her ashes will be spread over her mothers grave in Amite, Louisiana. Brownie and her family have requested that donations be made to the Yavapai Humane Society, P.O. Box 12, Prescott, Arizona, 86301.
