The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, November, 01, 2011 Ella L. Kite "Miss Ella" with the gorgeous white hair passed away Sept. 3, 2011, in Phoenix, Ariz. She was born Aug. 16, 1926, in Newton, Kan., to Lloyd and Fanny (Frances) Gates. She moved to Williams, Ariz., in 1945 and was a telephone operator for Ma Bell Telephone Co. There she met and married Luther (Slim) Kite in 1946. They lived in and around Williams for years. In 1966, they moved to Chino Valley, Ariz. She was preceded in death by her husband in November 1995. She moved to Black Canyon City in 1999. Survivors include a son, Cole, of Black Canyon City, Ariz.; stepson Thomas of Wrightwood, Calif.; sister Letha Spears of Cherryvale, Kan.; brother Dale Gates of Ft. Pierce, Fla.; four grandchildren, Brandie Kite-Sims, Brian Kite, Roseann Hampton and Kay Kite; and 11 great-grandchildren, Brittney, Justin, Matthew and Wyatt Sims, Kayla, Tanner, Baylee and Terah Kite, and Cole, Jacob and Dean Hampton. She will be greatly missed and cherished by many relatives and friends. Rest in Peace, Classy Lady. We love you mom, grandma, nana. At her request, cremation was private.
