Bernice Purdy Pollard passed away Oct. 26, 2011 in Lake Havasu City, at the age of 99. She was born in Toronto, Canada, to Ralph W. and Beatrice (Hawe) Armstrong, July 26, 1912.
Bernice was a longtime resident of both Ipswich and Hamilton. She was involved in many aspects of life. She was great at doing crafts. She belonged to the hospital auxiliary craft group and the Hummingbirds. Bernice was proudest that she was a member of the Eastern Star, Head Chapter 94 of Ipswich, Mass., since 1953. She was also involved with the Senior Citizens Organization while living in El Cajon, Calif., and Lake Havasu. She was also associated with the American Legion and the Fleet Reserve of El Cajon.
Bernice is survived by her loving family, sons, John Pollard, of Lake Havasu, and Robert (Deloris) Pollard, of Lynn, Mass., 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in passing by her parents; husband, Vernal; and her siblings, Glenn, Jimmy and Eileen; daughter-in-law, June; grandson, Curtis Birley; and granddaughter, Ashley Richard.
