CARACCIOLO, Maria (Nana)

(Maiden Name: Salvaggio)

Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Tuesday, November 1, 2011 - Maria “Nana” Caracciolo went home to the Lord Oct. 28, 2011 at her residence at the age of 91. We miss her so much! Rest in peace; you were all things in life that we can only wish to be! You were the best woman, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. “Rest in peace our angel.” Maria was born Feb. 25, 1920, to Antonio and Francesca (Cutrone) Salvaggio, in the bureau of Manhattan, N.Y. While residing in Queens, N.Y., Maria and her beloved husband, Joseph, owned and operated their own family Italian restaurant and pizzeria. In 1971, they moved to California. After losing Joseph in 1976, Maria moved to Lake Havasu 19 years ago from Riverside, Calif. Maria loved crocheting, knitting, sewing and had a special love for Italian cooking. Everybody who ever had her Italian meatballs all agreed that they were the best in the world. She also liked playing Bingo and going to the casino. Most important to Maria was her family: children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Maria leaves behind her beloved family; son, Joseph Mario Caracciolo Jr., of Hamptons, N.Y.; three daughters, Janet Langeberg, Patricia Walters and Rose Caracciolo, all of Lake Havasu City; sisters, Connie Corso, of New York, Theresa Cinerella, of New York, and Anna Miller, of Florida; six grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph Mario Caracciolo, who passed Feb. 23, 1976; and her precious granddaughter, Janelle Marie Langeberg, who passed in 2007. A Rosary will be said Thursday, at 5:30 p.m., followed by the visitation from 6-8 p.m. at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Funeral mass will take place Friday, at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church. Burial will take place at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif., Nov. 7, at 3 p.m. Thoughts and condolences may be submitted to the family at www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com. Arrangements were placed under the care of Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
