RICKER, Evelyn (Lyn)

(Maiden Name: Wade)

Arizona Daily Sun, Flagstaff, AZ Thursday, November 03, 2011 Evelyn (Lyn) Wade Ricker, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and auntie, left this world on October 25, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born on September 28, 1927 in Eddington, PA to Winthrop and Agnes Wade. Lyn will be missed for her no nonsense attitude, infectious laugh, eternal positive outlook and the unconditional love that she provided to every member of her family. Lyn married Marshall (Rick) A. Ricker on February 25, 1946. Lyn and Rick shared an incredible journey on this Earth that began in Boston, MA during the winter of 1943. With the help of the U.S. Navy, the family moved from MA to RI to VA to MD to AZ to CA and finally returned to AZ where they enjoyed retirement with their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Whether it was a story about her youth on Cape Cod, an adventure as a Navy wife or the venture of becoming a self-made business woman, Lyn always captivated her audience. Her comprehensive knowledge, sharp wit and extensive vocabulary always made her the first pick for any Trivial Pursuit team. Lyn was an incredible teacher, mentor, and friend; her cribbage prowess and comforting hugs will be sorely missed. Lyn was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and six siblings: Lester Wade, Lillian Lee, Alton Wade, Edna Crosby, Russell Wade, and Donald Wade. Lyn is survived by her sister Alice (Gasper) Tringale; her children: Marsha (Jim) Hanna, Rosalind (Annie) Sweet, Keith (Dee) Ricker and Curt (Delana) Ricker; grandchildren: Jessica (Larry) Fitchett, Jason (Heidi) Sweet, Cody Sweet, Brian Ricker, Robin Ricker, Valerie Ricker, Dylan Buchanan and Haley Ricker; great-grandchildren Jack and Nina Fitchett and Tayley and Trevor Sweet. Her memory will be honored privately by her family. Sincere thanks to all the angels cleverly disguised as employees of Northland Hospice.
