(Maiden Name: Conrad)

The Wickenburg Sun, Wickenburg, AZ January 18, 1963 Teacher Killed In 1-Car Crash Local officials have expressed the belief that a safety belt might have saved the life of Mrs Roberta Georgia Halderman, 23-year-old teacher in the MacLennan School here whose death in a one-car accident last Friday afternoon shocked this community where she had lived since shortly after the school term opened last Fall. Mrs Halderman was driving to Phoenix to keep an appointment with an optometrist when her Valiant went out of control about a mile and a half east of Wittmann, veered to the right and threw her out, then rolled over her, crushing her to death, according to Highway Patrolman Joe Henderson who investigated the accident. She was alone in the car. Lived Briefly Mrs Halderman was still alive when Henderson reached the scene but was dead by the time Justice of the Peace Lew Bramkamp, in his capacity, as ex-officio coroner, arrived. The body was taken to the county medical examiner in Phoenix, in accordance with state law. Funeral services were held Monday at 3:30 p. m. at the Green Acres Mortuary and Chapel in Scottsdale and were conducted by the Rev. Millard Wolfe, pastor of the Gilbert, Ar iz., Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Donald W. Halderman, an employee of the Standard Station here; her parents, Mr & Mrs George L. Conrad, Phoenix; two brothers, Andrew B. Conrad, Phoenix and William L. Conrad, Manhattan Beach, Calif., and a sister, Mrs Charlotte J. Gray, Phoenix. Born In Detroit Mrs Halderman was born in Detroit, Mich., August 9, 1939. She attended the Isaac grade school in Phoenix, was graduated from West Phoenix High School and received her degree from Arizona State College at Flagstaff in 1961.
