Joan Elizabeth (Kennedy) Scott
Joan passed away peacefully at home in Arlington, Washington, on Tuesday, January 2, 2007. She was born April 14, 1933, in Omak, Washington, to Charles Vere Kennedy and Louvaine ‘Babs’ Thornton.
Married in 1948 to Clarence Sherman ‘Scotty’ Scott, Jr., they began their family in Union Gap, Washington. They had three sons, Rick (Colleen), Clarence Sherman III (Shona) and Steve (Jane).
After moving to Eugene, Oregon, Joan completed high school and became a room mother and Cub Scout leader before going to work at Scotty's electronics company.
Joan, Scotty and Steve moved to Everett, Washington, in 1968. While in Everett, Joan began her career with GTE. She was proud of earning the Certified Purchasing Manager designation, but retired early to go RV'ing with Scotty. Joan continued to RV after Scotty's death. She met Robert Price while touring the Southwest with family friend Ron McNassor.
Joan and Bob built a patio in Prescott, Arizona, and began volunteering at the Heritage Park Zoo. After too few years, Bob passed away. Rick and Steve told brother Sherm that it was his turn to take care of Mom.
Sherm moved to Prescott and they joined the American Legion. Joan served four terms as the Auxiliary Chaplain for Unit 6. Joan also met one of the loves of her life, her black lab, Ralph.
While in Prescott, Joan met Frank Cooke and moved with him to Edgewood, New Mexico where another patio was built. After Frank passed away Joan and Ralph traveled between Edgewood and Prescott.
Joan is survived by her sister Pat; brothers, Ron and John; three sons; five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and her companion, Ralph.
At Joan's request no services were held.
A celebration of Joan's life will be February 4, 2007, at noon at American Legion Post 6 in Prescott, Arizona. All of her friends and family are invited.
