JEFFRIES, Paul Gene


The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, January 24, 2007 Paul G. Jeffries, age 76, died Jan. 21, 2007 in Prescott. He was born Sept. 2, 1930 in Pratt City, Ala. Paul moved to Texas during WW II and lived in Texas until he joined the U.S. Air Force. Paul served in the U.S. Air, Force during the Korean War. He was stationed in Japan for two and a half years. While in Japan he met his future wife's brother, who introduced him to his wife, Martha. Paul and Martha Louise Landgraf were married in Valley Mills, Texas on Jan. 25, 1958. After his discharge from the Air Force, Paul finished college and graduated from the University of Texas (Austin) with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering. After graduating, Paul and his wife moved to California, where he worked and attended the University of Santa Clara on a company-sponsored honors program, where he earned a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering. Most of Paul's working career was with GTE Government Systems; after taking an early retirement, he joined a consulting firm (ESEA) in Los Altos, Calif. Paul's specialty was electronic defense systems, and he did extensive traveling to various locations throughout the U.S. as well as Europe, South Africa, and Sweden. He and his wife lived in Germany in the 1990s for about two years. Paul loved engineering and was often called on to help support electronic defense programs after his retirement. Paul also enjoyed gardening, golfing and traveling. He was a member of American Lutheran Church, Prescott; a past president of Toastmaster's Club; member of the Elks, Lodge 330; member of IEEE, a technical association; the Association of Old Crows (an electronic defense organization); and The American Legion. Paul is survived by a sister, Irene F. Boullard of Mansfield, Texas; two brothers, R.L Jeffries of Mansfield, Texas and R.H. Jeffries of Midlothian, Texas; and several nephews. He loved his family more than anything. He will be missed until we are together again in Heaven with our Lord. Paul was preceded in death by his wife, Martha, of 48 years; his parents, Leion M. and Wilkie (Bobo) Jeffries; his oldest brother, William C. Jeffries and a nephew, John Paul Jeffries. A celebration of his life will take place at 4 p.m.Friday, Jan. 26 at American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1085 Scott Drive, Prescott. Dr. Daniel A. Storvick, Senior Pastor, American Evangelical Lutheran Church in Prescott will officiate the service. Private burial will be at Heritage Memorial Cemetery. Arizona Ruffner Wakelin Funeral Home assisting the family.
