Mary J. McHenry went to be with the Lord December 30, 2006. She was born August 9, 1910 in Muscatine, Iowa, to Anna and Frank Bagnard.
Mary married Earl McHenry on October 18, 1930 in Ohio. Earl and Mary settled in Detroit, Michigan where their daughter, Mary Anne, and son, Robert Earl, were born. She became a licensed beautician in Michigan where she joined her husband in owning, and operating their first barber and beauty shop and they continued through out their lives together; to include shops in Willcox, Tempe, Glendale and Mayer, Arizona.
Her mission in life was caring for her family and others. Following the death of her husband Earl, in 1968, she returned to school and became a certified Senior Nursing Assistant. She provided professional and compassionate care for patients of Yavapai Community Hospital and the Arizona State Pioneers Home in Prescott, Arizona until her retirement in 1975. After which Mary most enjoyed caring for her family and friends, gourmet cooking and crocheting.
Mary was known for her strong will and free advice for all in life's matters. We love and will miss you very much.
She is survived by her daughter, Mary Anne Bamrick of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; son, Robert E. McHenry of Huntington Beach, Calif.; grandchildren, Edward Bamrick, Robert Bamrick, Jeff McHenry, Shawn McHenry, Megan Hurley; 14 great grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Mary's wishes were for any donations to be made to Heartland Hospice, 1661 E. Camelback Road, Suite 200, Phoenix, Ariz., 85016.
