O'HARA, Patrick Lyman

The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Monday, January 15, 2007 Patrick Lyman O'Hara, Jr., age 48, was sadly taken from this world in his sleep from an unexpected heart attack, the evening of Sunday, January 7, 2007. This child of God had prevailed through tremendous trials and tribulations in his life and the loss of his life was both tragic and unexpected by all who knew and loved him. Born August 4, 1958, in Richmond, Calif., Patrick lived his life in the West including. Needles, Calif., Topock, Ariz., Las Vegas, Nev., and finally in Chino Valley, Ariz. A man with a tremendous work ethic, Patrick spent much of his career in construction operating heavy equipment, including precise work, lifting and protecting high voltage workers of the Las Vegas IBEW 357, of which Patrick was also a proud member. As a professional tradesman he was greatly respected, but his work did not define the greatest achievements of his life. Those were defined by the love of his family. A proud husband and father, Patrick was married on December 28, 1984. He was an avid lover of golf and while he had the physique of an NFL linebacker, he approached the game with great patience, precision and finesse. While Patrick worked most of his career as a skilled tradesman, few knew that his tremendous work ethic, combined with his patience, precision and finesse would serve in his desire to become a Registered Nurse. In an effort to give back to his community and out of respect for those that helped him in his own life's path, Patrick was actively pursuing his life's dream as an RN. Patrick's kind-hearted nature, helpfulness to all in need and courteousness to humankind caused many to refer to him as the "Gentle Giant." While pursuing his dream to become an RN, his co-workers at Yavapai Regional Hospital and LaFuentes Hospice Care, in Prescott, Ariz., often referred to him as "The Big Teddy Bear." His kind spirit, desire to help others and his gentle nature will be greatly missed by all. Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Tina Marie O'Hara (44); his sons, Cory Randal O'Hara (23), Patrick Lyman O'Hara III (21); and his life parents Norma Lou Phillips and Clifford Eugene Phillips all residing in Prescott, Ariz. His absence in the life of all who knew and love him will be greatly missed, but the mark of his love and kindness will never be forgotten. Services honoring Patrick Lyman O'Hara, Jr. and his life will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, January 20, 2007, at the Heights Church, 2121 Larry Caldwell Drive, Prescott, Ariz., 86305. A celebration of his life with Christ will be immediately following the memorial services. In lieu of sending flowers the family humbly accepts donations for medical expenses to The National Bank of Arizona, at 991 N. Highway 89, Chino Valley, Ariz., 86323, made payable to the Tina Marie Q’Hara account. Information provided by survivors.
