Ruth E. Botimer of Phoenix died Jan. 15, 2004.
Born Sept. 3, 1913, in Grass Lake, MI, to Frank and Lydia Shelly, she graduated from Albion College in 1936 with a teaching degree.
Dec. 23, 1938, she married Donald K. Olney. Together they had four children: Roger, Carolyn, Janet, and Martha. They lived in IL and MI. Donald was killed in an automobile crash in 1958 and Ruth returned to teaching in Saginaw, MI.
In 1969 she married Lloyd Botimer. In 1979, they moved to Phoenix where they enjoyed their grandchildren, new friends at their church, teachers retirement groups, and Rotary Club. Lloyd died in 1999.
Besides her two husbands, Ruth was preceded in death by her daughter, Martha, two granddaughters, her younger twin brothers, and one stepson. She is survived by her three children, one daughter-in-law, one son-in-law, two stepdaughters, one step-daughter-in-law, two sisters-in-law, 9 grandchildren, 8 step-grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, 12 step-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial service was at Paradise Valley United Methodist Church, 4455 E. Lincoln Dr., Paradise Valley. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Paradise Valley United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.
