Owens Livingston Mortuary Show Low, Arizona Nella Frost February 4, 1929-November 7, 2011 Nella Gardner Frost died late Monday night at Banner Heart Hospital in Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona following a cardiac episode. She was born on February 4, 1929 in McNary, Apache County, Arizona to the late Joseph Ivan and Sarah Isaphine (Penrod) Gardner. Nella was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and, through the years, she was very involved with its Primary and Young Women Associations. She grew to appreciate and love the youth of The Church and was always willing to serve them any way she could. As she grew older, Nella began a decades-long service in the temples of The Church. She loved doing her temple work and for many years she was privileged to work in the baptistry of the Mesa Arizona Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and be witness to the miracles of that sacred work. During her working years, Nella worked as a postal clerk at the Lakeside Post Office and was able to retire after many years of dedicated service to her community. She was a wonderful homemaker to her family and loved her family more than anybody else in the world. She would always brag, to any who would listen, about her family's accomplishments. She was proud to be their mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Nella also possessed excellent embroidering skills. Many of her embroidered things are now considered to be treasures to her family. She was an excellent cook and could make a meal out of anything! Nella was an avid reader and was always looking for good books to read. When she was sitting and resting in front of the t.v., Nella could frequently be found watching an exciting game show. She enjoyed the competition of the other contestants and was always thrilled when she knew the answers before them. Nella was great dancer throughout her life. She loved to cut a rug and many might have called her the life of the party. She was a good-hearted, fun loving woman and she will be greatly missed. Nella was the proud matriarch of a large family. She is survived by: 2 daughters: Patricia (David) Renner of Lakeside, Arizona, Barbara (Dean) Shumway of Snowflake, Arizona; 4 sons: Terry (Jodi) Frost of Apache Junction, Arizona, Allen (Sue) Frost of Apache Junction, Arizona, Bradley Frost of Apache Junction, Arizona, Dennis (Lisa) Frost of Oracle Valley, Arizona; 2 daughters-in-law: Dora Frost of Joseph City, Arizona, Mickey Frost of Apache Junction, Arizona; 2 sisters: Faye (Larry) of Carmichael, California, Betty (Alvie) Brown of Claypool, Arizona; 3 brothers: Leland (Loyala "Pokey") Gardner of Lakeside, Arizona, Bryce (Sheryl) Gardner of Lakeside, Arizona, John Gardner of Lakeside, Arizona; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. Along with her parents, Nella was preceded in death by: her husband, Clifford Allen Frost; and 2 sons: Barry K. Frost and Clifford Howell "Hoopie" Frost. The funeral service for Nella will begin 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Pinetop-Lakeside Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1520 Church Lane in Lakeside, Arizona where the visitation will begin 1 hour prior. The concluding service and interment will follow at the Lakeside Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.
