Joseph Allen Morris, 87, passed away at his home in Lake Havasu City, Nov. 1, 2011. He was born on July 21, 1924, in Boonville, Ind., to Evert and Leota Morris.
Joe, as he was called by all, knew no stranger. His ready smile, handshake and help were there for all. Joe served his country in the U.S. Navy for three years during World War II, serving as Gunners Mate/Ship at Sea. He went on to marry his wife, Auerlia, July 16, 1946, in Seattle, Wash. Prior to his Alzheimer's he stated, "Well, if you missed seeing me now then don't come when I pass, instead have a vacation on me.” Joe was an aerospace engineer and worked on projects, including the first lunar lander, Sky Lab and the shuttle project before retiring. He was an honorable man; his family and friends always came first.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Aurelia M. Morris, of Lake Havasu City,; children, Kaye M. Post and Dennis L. Morris; daughter-in-law, Kathy (Morris) Pratt; grandchildren, Traci A. Havins, Joseph M. Morris, Deborah L. Boswell and Tricia Joyner; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first-born son, Gary Allen Morris.
