Today's News-Herald, Lake Havasu City, AZ - Published Tuesday, November 8, 2011 - Mary Joyce Desmaretz passed away Nov. 1, 2011 at Prestige Assisted Living, Claremont, Lake Havasu City. She was born March 6, 1926, at Murphy Memorial Hospital, Whittier, Calif., to Alex and Conchita Broussard. Mary Joyce worked for AT&T as a long distance telephone operator for more than 30 years. She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, serving as Auxiliary President several times. She is survived by her son, Donald Desmaretz, of Lake Havasu City; and four grandchildren, Steven Desmaretz and Miranda Guinn, Whittier, Calif., and Daniel Desmaretz and Jean Desmaretz, Citrus Heights, Calif. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Cletus Henry Desmaretz, and son, Allen Joseph Desmaretz. Final care was coordinated by New Hope Hospice of Lake Havasu City, Ariz. Arrangements will be handled by Rose Hills Mortuary, 3900 Workman Mill Road, Whittier, Calif., 90601. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday.
