The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Wednesday, January 31, 2007 Marion Lee Bigelow May 22, 1923 - Jan. 28, 2007 Marion Bigelow slipped peacefully into eternity Jan. 28, 2007 at his home, surrounded by his beloved family. He was 83. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Army during the South Pacific Campaign in WWII, receiving a Purple Heart. Well known in the community, he was a teacher at Prescott Sr. High School for 31 years. Marion began the FFA Program in July 1951, taught Shop/Agriculture and retired as the head of the Math Dept. in 1982. Marion had a profound influence on the lives of many generations of his students through those years of teaching, also serving on the school board. He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter, Day Saints serving faithfully in many positions, his favorite being a home teacher. Marion and his wife, Vera, willingly fulfilled two full-time missions for the church in Kentucky and New York City respectively. They were to celebrate 65 wonderful years of marriage March 24. Marion loved his family and his church first; a lover of the outdoors, he enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing second. Marion is survived by his eternal companion, Vera; five children, David Bigelow (Deanna), Judith Anderson, Stephen Bigelow (Karia), Gary Bigelow |Mei) and Tonnie Riley (Jay); 31 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren. Marion was preceded in death by daughter Janelle Lindsay. Funeral Services are to be Saturday, Feb. 3, 2007 Information provided by survivors.
