The White Mountain Independent, Show Low, Arizona ~ 11/11/2011 A native of Arizona, Sybil Bates Anderson entered into rest Oct. 31, 2011, in Cottonwood. She was born Nov. 10, 1928, at home on Taylor Street in Phoenix, to Palmer M. Simmons and Anna Haisten Simmons. She attended Isaac Elementary School and Phoenix Union High School. Sybil married Clay J. R. Bates July 13, 1946. They had 45 wonderful loving years together. They had three children: Linda (Ken) Martin of Nutrioso, John Bates of Farmington, NM and Tom (Pam) Bates of Tempe. After Clay's death, Sybil married a longtime friend William Anderson in 1996. During her youth, she enjoyed jitterbugging at Willow Breeze and won some dance contests. She was a stay-at-home Mom, raising her children. She enjoyed crocheting, ceramics, watching her soap opera, square dancing, geneology and playing board and card games. She was a wonderful, loving wife and mother and will be missed, "until we meet again." She is survived by her husband, William Anderson; her three children; grandchildren: Marlayna (Clint) Munoz, Erica (Tom) Lango and Kory (Brittany) Bates; four great-grandchildren; and her stepson Jeff Anderson. She was preceded in death by her parents, and Clay J. R. Bates. Services were held in Phoenix. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Verde Valley Community Hospice in Cottonwood.
