The Daily Courier, Prescott, Arizona Tuesday, October 9, 2006 Michael James VanDerSanden, 32, of Prescott Valley, died on Sept. 18, 2006, in Hardin, Montana. Mr. VanDerSanden was born on Oct. 4, 1973, in Turlock, Calif., the town his great-grandparents arrived in via a covered wagon. He grew up and went to school in Homer, Alaska. He was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout at the age of l4. He lived and worked in Las Vegas, Nevada until his health no longer allowed him to work. He then moved to Prescott Valley with his parents. Michael spent the summer volunteering at the Chauncey Ranch YMCA camp. He loved the outdoors and was on a hunting trip to Montana at the time of his death. Michael is survived by his parents, James and Joan VanDerSanden of Prescott Valley. Funeral service and burial were in Ripon, Calif. A celebration of life gathering will take place at 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 15, at the Chauncey Ranch YMCA Camp. Remembrances may be made to Chauncey Ranch YMCA, HC 63, Box 3027, Mayer, Ariz., 86333.
