John Vincent Postman was born in Chester, Ill., on June 23, 1925, on the family farm to John Vincent Postman and Catherine Postman. After John's father died, John and his mother and sister Teresa moved to St. Louis.
When World War II started, he got his mother's permission to enlist in the Army Air Corp in 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater working on B-29 aircraft. After the war, in 1947 in St. Louis, he met and married Arizona Glass. They had one child, Shirley, in 1953. Then John with his family moved to Dallas in 1954 where they had two more children, Coleen and William. After two years there John and family then moved to Joliet, Ill., in 1955. There John sold life insurance until 1964 and went to junior college and became an accountant. He worked for firms around the Los Angeles and Inland Empire in California. During this time Arizona, his wife, died in 1969. In 1978, John met and married Dorothy Peck who had three children of her own, Wayne, Sandy and Carol. John worked as an accountant until his retirement in 1990. John was active in his church as a deacon, an usher, and an accountant. After his retirement in 1990, he lived in Washington State before moving to Kingman in 2000.
John died in his sleep on Friday, Oct. 28, 2011.
